How do I choose a Kundalini teacher?

The purity of kundalini shakti is only as pure as the vessel through which it flows. I consider each teacher a stained glass window through which light pours.

Each teacher has their own unique gifts, imprints and frequencies which influence what beautiful light is being cast.

And perhaps more importantly, the clarity of the window has the biggest impact on the quality and the quantity of light which streams through.

Pure consciousness or shakti energy being streamed through a window that is ‘dirty’ or obscured, is dramatically impacted, and the potency (and even safety) of the transmission is influenced.

Rather than assigning value to a teacher based on their statements about who they are or symbols through which we assign meaning (accolades, instagram following, money, success, status, affiliations etc) I encourage you to use direct perception and feeling.

The questions I ask myself when seeking out teachers are:

Are they open hearted?

Are they living from an open heart? If yes, how open is their heart, and how anchored (permanent) is that opening? This can be gauged by how much love or how loved you feel in their presence, and through dialogue. I like to ask questions and see if they respond from their mind and their knowledge or ego, or if they respond in a way from their heart and beyond ego and need for recognition or importance. Do they make it about themselves and their own needs for validation or reward, or are they humbly being of service, regardless of whether they get recognition or not.

Do they live in integrity?

Do they live and breathe what they teach? Are they a living embodiment of their teachings, or do they have a teaching persona, and a different persona in other areas of life. If they could never tell you they were a healer or a teacher, would you know by simply being in their presence that they are a teacher or a healer. Who are they beyond who they say they are? And does that align with what they tell you?

Do they operate from modern day conditioning of capitalism and individualism?

Are they driven by money or greed? Do they comfortably exist around other teachers, or are they threatened and competitive about others in their field? Do they work collaboratively towards spiritual goals of collective healing and awakening, or towards personal goals of financial gain, notoriety or fame?

Do they share and uphold the same values as me?

Are they, and the people they are associated with living in alignment with the same values that I have?

Are they further along the path I wish to be on?

Do they encourage my own empowerment, or do they encourage me to continually be in a position where I need them?

I fully trust in your own inner knowing and wisdom to be able to align yourself with the right teacher for you at the right time.
